Women make up 51% of the U.S. population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau Projections of the Resident Population by 5 Year Age Groups. That means that there are approximately 143,271,000 women (3/4 of whom are over 18). On average, women live to almost 80 years old (about five years longer than men) and thus are looking to maintain health and vitality as long as possible.

More than ever, women consider health to include physical, mental, and spiritual well being. With increasingly demanding lifestyles, women aspire to balance, and look for solutions to help do more in less time. Women attempt to eat well, but it can be difficult to meet physical needs with diet alone. For this reason, almost half of women take vitamins regularly. They also look to fortified or "functional" food products to supplement nutritional needs or to help manage health issues.

Cargill is actively developing ingredients to meet the growing demand for women's health functional food & dietary supplement products.
